Diane E. Breidenstein
Diane Breidenstein is a business and management consultant with over 30 years of business experience. Her career includes holding senior level positions with HCA, a fortune 100 company, as well as co-founding and selling a successful start-up.
Diane has worked with senior level executives and leaders in a variety of industries and nonprofit organizations, including technology, financial services, energy, professional services, manufacturing and healthcare. As an executive coach, she is passionate about helping leaders accelerate their skill development, build high performing teams, and increase organizational capacity. She is highly regarded for her ability to help leaders solve complex organizational problems and remain focused in difficult situations. She has expertise in increasing personal effectiveness through style and relationship management, influencing, and self-management. Diane also works in the areas of strategic thinking, building accountability, executive presence, and managing change.
Her business background, direct approach and experience in leading executive teams enables her to make the consulting process practical and outcome focused. Her coaching and facilitation skills, along with a collaborative style contribute to her demonstrated ability to assess problems, design solutions, and help leaders improve individual and company success. Her approach balances the needs of the client with the realities of the organization’s culture, expectations, and marketplace.

Diane received her MHA from Duke University, Fuqua School of Business. She is certified in a number of coaching, business planning and assessment tools.
Barbara J. Kreisman, PhD
Barb has enjoyed a rich and a varied career—from working as organizational development director at Dell Technologies during the 1990’s to becoming Associate Dean of the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business for more than a decade and on to her current role within the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging, Ritchie School of Engineering. In this capacity, she and her colleagues are developing a comprehensive program entitled Your Next Chapter: Aging and Well Being. This program is focused on supporting mid-to-late career stage individuals or retirees to define their forward path in the areas of Purpose/Meaning, Health and Relationships.
Barb’s academic achievements consist of a Ph.D. in Leadership & Organizational Behavior from the University of Texas at Austin; a master’s degree in Human Resource development from the University of Texas at Austin, and a second interdisciplinary graduate degree in Business and Career Counseling from Arizona State University. Additionally, she is an alum of the Modern Elder Academy, established by Chip Conley in Baja, Mexico and has dedicated the past three years to research on aging and the challenges facing people as they enter their next life chapter.
In 2018, Barb was granted Professor and Associate Dean Emerita status at the Daniels College of Business. This title provides her with flexibility to engage with organizations that value her many years of experience and perspective in leadership, planning, human resource management and competency development. She says her “love has always been solving challenging issues at an organizational and individual level.”
Barb is now heavily engaged with the non-profit community and served as Board Chair for Wish of a Lifetime during its acquisition by AARP. She is a Trustee of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and is on the Advisory Board for DU’s Graduate School of Social Work. Barb remains as a Board Member for the Urban Leadership Foundation of Colorado (ULFC) which focuses on leadership development for persons of color. She serves on the Colorado Business Roundtable Purpose and Profits Committee. She was a founding member of the Latino Leadership Institute Board of Directors and worked closely with former Denver Mayor and US Department of Transportation Secretary Federico Pena on this initiative. Additionally, Barb is a member of the International Women’s Leadership Foundation (IWF) Colorado Chapter and serves on the Board of Directors for the University of Denver Retirees.
In February of 2022, Barb founded a consortium of 36 non-profit organizations which meets several times per year so that individuals can share best practices, resources, and business skills.
Scott McLagan
Scott is an Emeritus Professor of the Practice in Management at the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business. He was the Faculty Lead for the Executive Leadership and Global Business elements (classroom and experiential) in DU’s highly ranked Executive MBA program for 18 years prior to retiring in 2022. Scott continues to teach and consult in the areas of Leadership, Executive Team Development and Strategic Planning/Execution. Over the last 20 years he has led leadership programs and consulting engagements for over 80 organizations including Newmont Mining, DCP Midstream, Kaiser Permanente, Denver Health, Centura Health, Comcast, Level 3/CenturyLink/Lumen, Starz, Lockheed Martin, Crocs, Pacific Life and Vail Resorts.
Scott is currently working with the Knoebel Institute for Healthy Aging at the University of Denver to develop a comprehensive program entitled Your Next Chapter: Aging and Well-Being. Prior to moving into academia and consulting, Scott spent over 25 years in the corporate world and has a diverse professional background. He held senior executive roles with two large global companies (Fisher Controls and Emerson Electric) and a high-tech start-up that was sold to Oracle. Scott has extensive global experience, having lived in Singapore for five years and been actively involved in business and education throughout the world.
Scott currently serves on the Board of Directors Hyder Construction, Inc. and was Chairman of the Board of HSS, Inc. prior to it being acquired in May, 2022. He is also President Emeritus of the Denver Children's Home Board of Directors, the oldest non-profit in Colorado.
Scott has degrees in both Mechanical Engineering and Finance from the University of Colorado at Boulder. He also completed the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD.
Kerry Plemmons
Kerry Plemmons has 30 years of entrepreneurial experience with success in launching and running small and medium-sized businesses in the U.S. and Mexico, and another 19 years as an academic and consultant. As an executive with Starbucks, Plemmons opened stores in the western U.S. and Canada, ran several test-market innovations, and led operations for a couple hundred stores. Prior to Starbucks, he partnered in creating the Pour la France! Restaurant chain in three states and Mexico. Plemmons is on the Board of The Human Animal Bond Association.
Since joining the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business full time in 2004, Plemmons has worked with senior executives at The American Animal Hospital Association, The Human Animal Bond Association, Zoetis, Elanco, F.C.Bayern, Molson Coors, Environmental Chemical Corporation (ECC), Microsoft, DMB Development Company, Janus Capital Group, Monte Vista Cooperative, Anadarko Oil, DCP Midstream, Encano Oil, Intrado, First Data Corporation, Western Union, The City of Aurora, The City of Englewood, Arizona State Parks, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Crocs, Veterinary Study Group, Kaiser Permanente, several Veterinary Management Groups, and more.
During the years of teaching at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver, Plemmons created and delivered new courses in a variety of subjects. His passion is connecting innovation to leadership through experiential educational processes.
Plemmons is a published author with his book, Juxtapositions: Comparing Mild to Wild Success – Irreverently. Juxtapositions looks at whole organizational success, where a kind and gentle revolution might create a strong cultural focus, when imagination leads to strategies that are implemented because they align with the organizational mission, and the individuals are rewarded and recognized so the imaginative strategy process gets repeated.
Andrew C. Sekel, PhD
Andrew Sekel, Ph.D. is a senior health care executive, consultant and investor with over 30 years of experience. As chief executive officer of specialty networks for Optum, he oversaw behavioral health, complex medical conditions, and physical health services that improved the overall health and well-being of individuals in the employer and health plan markets, as well as beneficiaries in Medicaid, Medicare, and other local, state and federal programs. These services included comprehensive management of mental health and substance abuse care, support for evidence-based treatment decisions, development of “Centers of Excellence” networks that provide access to clinically superior care for people with complex medical conditions, and musculoskeletal support services.
Dr. Sekel has extensive experience in both the commercial and public sector health care markets. Prior to assuming his role with Optum, he was vice president of business development for the specialty division of Centene Corporation in St. Louis, MO. Previously, he co-founded and led several behavioral health management companies in Texas and California, including Group Practice Affiliates, Integrated Mental Health, and Tejas Behavioral Health Services. As a leader of these companies, Dr. Sekel created integrated health care programs, processes and initiatives that provided the highest quality care for patients.
Dr. Sekel earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, Master of Education degree in special education and Doctor of Philosophy degree in counseling psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
